1Who This Policy Covers

In short: Website visitors, people with HeyInvest accounts, investors in our database, and people our users contact.

This Policy applies to the following people:

  • Visitors to our website.
  • Users: people who create an account or join a Workspace, including owners, admins, members and connectors.
  • Listed Individuals: investors, fund managers, family office principals, angels and other professionals whose professional information appears in our investor database, whether or not they use HeyInvest. Section 9 is written for you.
  • Contacts of our users: people in investor lists our users upload, people our users email or message through the Services, and people in our users’ LinkedIn networks.

This Policy does not cover information our customers collect or use outside the Services, or the practices of third-party websites and services.

2Our Role: Controller or Processor

In short: We decide how the investor database and account data are used. For data our customers bring, we act on their instructions.

HeyInvest's role for each activity
ActivityOur role
Website, accounts, billing, security, usage statistics and supportController (a “business” under the CCPA)
Compiling the investor database and making it available to subscribers, including contact details revealed by UnlocksController (business)
The platform-wide suppression list, deliverability signals, and public profile information retrieved through the Services to keep the investor database accurateController (business)
Investor lists our users upload, our users’ campaigns and their recipients, our users’ synced LinkedIn connections and conversations, and other Customer DataProcessor or service provider for our customer, which is the controller

Where we act for a customer, that customer’s own privacy practices apply, and requests about that information are best sent to the customer. We will help our customers respond, and we will forward requests we receive when we can identify the customer. You can always ask us directly to block outreach to you through HeyInvest, as described in Section 9.5.

3Information We Collect

In short: Information you give us, information from accounts you connect, information collected as you use the Services, and information from public and licensed sources.

3.1Information you give us.

  • Account information: name, business email address, company name, password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider) and role. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google.
  • Raise and profile information: company name, industry, stage, raise amount, location, website, investment preferences and similar details you enter, and any documents you upload.
  • Team information: the email addresses and roles of teammates you invite.
  • Lists and content: investor lists you upload (names, firms, titles, email addresses and any other columns you include), notes, pipeline entries, campaign templates, messages and saved searches.
  • Payment information: our payment processor, Stripe, collects your card details and billing address. We receive your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan, seats and billing status, and we display your card brand, the last four digits of your card and your invoices, retrieved from Stripe. We never receive full card numbers.
  • Communications: messages you send us, feedback, and privacy requests, including the information in them.
  • Acceptance records: when you accept our Terms and acknowledge this Policy, we record your name, email address and company, the versions of each document, the exact statement you agreed to, the date and time, your IP address and the country it indicates, your browser’s user agent and how you signed in (for example, email or Google).

3.2Information from accounts you connect. If you choose to connect a LinkedIn account to HeyIntro:

  • Your profile: name, headline, profile link, profile identifier and photo.
  • Your network: your first-degree connections and the people you have one-to-one LinkedIn conversations with, including their names, headlines, positions, companies and profile links. We store this list so we can match it against our investor data.
  • Your conversations: our LinkedIn automation provider synchronizes your LinkedIn inbox so that we can show you your conversations, detect replies and send messages for you. Conversations, including message content, are displayed to you in the Services. We store conversation identifiers, the messages you send through HeyIntro, and event data from our provider, which can include the text of replies.
  • Credentials: if you sign in to LinkedIn through HeyInvest, your LinkedIn email address and password, any two-factor authentication secret, or your session cookies are sent directly to our LinkedIn automation provider, which stores them to keep your account connected. We do not keep copies.
  • Connections export: if you upload LinkedIn’s connections file, we read names, profile links, companies and positions from it and do not keep the file.

If you connect a Gmail mailbox for email outreach, we receive your email address, name and verification status, and permission tokens that let us send email for you and read the threads of emails we sent. Section 7 explains how we handle Google user data.

3.3Information collected automatically.

  • Usage information: pages you view in the app (including which investor profiles you open), when you start a session, how long you are active, and actions such as searches, matches, Unlocks, invitations and campaigns.
  • Device and log information: our hosting, authentication and security providers automatically log technical information such as IP address, browser type, device information and request times. Apart from acceptance records and privacy requests, we do not store this in our application database.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 8.

3.4Information from other sources.

  • Licensed data providers: commercial business information providers from which we license professional contact and company information, such as email addresses, telephone numbers, email validity status, photos and company details.
  • Public sources: regulatory filings, company, fund and firm websites, news, and professional profiles that people make publicly available, such as on LinkedIn, Crunchbase and X.
  • Our users: information users upload or enter, and public professional profile information about investors retrieved while carrying out users’ instructions in the Services, such as titles, investment focus, portfolio companies and profile photos.
  • Logo services: company logos are retrieved from public logo and website icon services using company domain names.

4How We Use Information

In short: To run the Services, build and maintain the investor database, keep the platform safe, bill you, communicate with you, improve HeyInvest and meet our legal obligations.

Purposes and legal bases
PurposeExamplesLegal basis (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

BillingProcess payments; manage subscriptions, seats and creditsPerformance of contract; legal obligation (tax and accounting)

Improve and develop HeyInvestAnalyze usage, fix problems, build features, create aggregated or de-identified dataLegitimate interests
Legal compliance and claimsRespond to lawful requests, keep records of acceptances and privacy requests, establish or defend legal claimsLegal obligation; legitimate interests

We use automated processing, including profiling, to compare investor information with raises and to score, rank and classify investors. These results help our users decide whom to contact. We do not make decisions about anyone based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

5AI and Automated Processing

In short: We use third-party AI models for matching, investor detection, summaries and drafts. Prompts can include professional details about investors but not their contact details.

We use AI models from third-party providers, accessed through an AI routing service, to explain matches and fit, detect which connections are investors, extract investment focus from public profile text, classify LinkedIn replies, interpret searches and draft messages.

Depending on the feature, a prompt can include raise details; investors’ names, titles, firms, locations, investment history and LinkedIn profile links; the names of mutual connections; short excerpts of public profile text; and up to a few hundred characters of a LinkedIn reply. We do not include email addresses or telephone numbers from our investor database in prompts, and we do not send Gmail data to AI providers.

AI providers may process prompts in the United States or in other countries, under their own terms. We store AI outputs in a cache to reduce cost and improve speed. AI outputs can be wrong, and users must review them before relying on them.

6How We Disclose Information

In short: To other users as the product works, to service providers, for legal and safety reasons, in a business transfer, or with your permission.

6.1To other users.

  • Investor database: signed-in subscribers see profile information about Listed Individuals, and see contact details that their Workspace unlocks.
  • Within a Workspace: teammates see the Workspace’s raises, lists, pipeline and unlocked contact details, and each other’s names, email addresses, roles and recent activity. Owners and admins also see members’ campaigns, connected mailbox addresses, reply excerpts, credit use and Unlocks.
  • HeyIntro: teammates see which investors you are connected to unless you set your intro preferences to “Nobody.” If you turn on network sharing, users outside your Workspace see your name, photo, LinkedIn profile link and which investors you know, and can ask you for introductions. Nobody sees your full connection list.
  • Recipients: people you contact see what you send them.

6.2To service providers. We use service providers that process information on our behalf, including providers of cloud hosting and content delivery; database, authentication and file storage; LinkedIn automation; AI models and routing; payment processing; and logo and website icon lookups. We also send identifiers such as names, company names or profile links to licensed data providers to match and retrieve professional information. Service providers may use the information only to provide services to us, except where they act as independent controllers under their own terms, such as Stripe for fraud prevention.

6.3Our personnel. Authorized HeyInvest personnel can access account information, usage and activity records to provide support, secure the Services, manage billing and enforce our Terms.

6.4Legal, safety and enforcement. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with law, legal process or a governmental or regulatory request; to protect the rights, property or safety of HeyInvest, our users, Listed Individuals or the public; to investigate fraud, spam, security incidents or abuse; or to enforce our agreements.

6.5Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to commitments at least as protective as this Policy.

6.6With your permission and in de-identified form. We disclose information when you direct or permit us to, and we may disclose aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

7Google User Data

In short: We use Gmail only to send your campaigns and spot replies in those threads. We never read the rest of your inbox, never use it for ads and never train AI on it.

Limited Use

HeyInvest’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7.1What we access. When you connect a Gmail mailbox, you grant permission to send email and to read email. We use these permissions only to:

  • send the emails in campaigns you create, from your mailbox and in your name; and
  • read the sender, subject and message identifier, and Gmail’s short snippet, of messages in the threads of emails we sent, so that we can detect replies, bounces and unsubscribe requests and stop your sequences.

We do not list, search or read any other messages in your mailbox.

7.2What we store. Your mailbox address and name; your permission tokens, encrypted with AES-256-GCM and kept in a separate table; for each email sent, the recipient, subject, the first 200 characters of the body and Gmail identifiers; and for each reply, the sender, subject, Gmail’s snippet (up to 300 characters) and the time it arrived.

7.3What we never do. We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell it, or use it to develop, improve or train generalized AI or machine learning models. We do not transfer it to others except as necessary to provide the features you use, for security, to comply with law, or as part of a merger or acquisition. People at HeyInvest do not read it unless you ask us to for specific messages, it is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, it is required by law, or it has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations. Within your Workspace, owners and admins can see reply excerpts for campaigns sent by members, as described in Section 6.1.

7.4Disconnecting. You can disconnect a mailbox at any time in HeyInvest, which revokes our access at Google and deletes the tokens, or remove HeyInvest’s access from your Google Account’s security settings.

8Cookies and Similar Technologies

In short: Only what is needed to sign you in and remember your preferences. No advertising cookies, third-party analytics or email tracking pixels.

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items that are needed to run the Services or to remember your choices. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics, social media pixels or cross-site tracking, and outreach emails sent through HeyInvest do not contain tracking pixels or tracked links.

Cookies and browser storage

Authentication cookies (sb-…-auth-token)Strictly necessaryKeep you signed in and protect your sessionWhile your session is active

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but the Services will not work without the strictly necessary cookies. Because we do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking, we do not currently show a cookie banner. If that changes, we will ask for your consent where the law requires.

We do not track you across other websites. We treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information linked to that browser and, if you are signed in, to your account.

9Notice to Investors and Professionals in Our Database

In short: What we hold about investors, where it comes from, who sees it, and how to correct it, remove it, opt out of its sale or stop outreach.

If you are in our database

You can ask what we hold about you, correct it, remove your profile, opt out of the sale of your information, or block all outreach to you through HeyInvest, using our privacy request form or by emailing privacy@heyinvest.ai. You do not need a HeyInvest account.

9.1What we hold. Your name; current and past titles, firms and positions; education; city, region and country; links to professional profiles such as LinkedIn, Crunchbase and X, and follower counts; profile photo and firm logo; investment focus such as sectors, stages, geographies and check size; investment history and portfolio companies; an estimated net worth range with a confidence indicator, where available; your business email address and, where our sources provide them, a personal email address and telephone numbers; email verification status; and the sources of each record and when it was last seen.

9.2Where it comes from. Public regulatory filings, firm and fund websites, news and publicly available professional profiles; licensed commercial data providers; public profile information retrieved while carrying out our users’ instructions; information our users provide; and information you provide to us.

9.3Why we use it. We compile this information so that founders, fund managers and other capital raisers can find investors whose focus matches their raise and contact them in a professional capacity. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, we rely on our legitimate interests in supporting professional networking and the flow of capital, in a context where investors commonly publicize their investment focus to attract relevant opportunities. To protect your interests, we limit the data to professional information, withhold contact details until a subscriber unlocks them, require subscribers to use the data only to raise capital for their own businesses and to honor opt-outs, and give you simple ways to object and opt out. You can contact us for more information about how we balance these interests with your rights.

9.4Who sees it. Signed-in subscribers can see your profile information. Your contact details are revealed only when a subscriber’s Workspace spends credits to unlock them, after which that Workspace can see and use them under our Terms. Our Terms require subscribers to use investor information only to raise capital for their own businesses, to comply with anti-spam and privacy laws, and to honor opt-out and deletion requests we pass on.

9.5Your choices.

  • Access: ask what we hold about you and where it came from.
  • Correction: ask us to fix information that is wrong or out of date.
  • Removal: ask us to delete your profile. We remove it from the Services and keep only a minimal suppression record, such as your name, email address and profile link, so that you are not added back from our sources.
  • Opt out of sale: ask us to stop making your information available to subscribers.
  • Do not contact: ask us to block outreach to you through HeyInvest’s email and LinkedIn tools. We add your email address and LinkedIn profile link to our platform-wide suppression list, which our tools check before anything is sent, for every user.
  • Objection: object to our processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling.

We act on opt-out and do-not-contact requests as soon as we can and within 15 business days, and on other requests within the time the law allows, as described in Section 14. Where required, we ask subscribers who unlocked your contact details to delete or suppress them. We cannot recall copies that a subscriber made before your request or control messages they send outside the Services, but our Terms require them to honor the deletion and do-not-contact notices we pass on.

9.6How long we keep it. We keep your profile while it remains relevant to professional investing and you have not asked us to remove it. We keep suppression records for as long as needed to honor your request.

10If You Received Outreach Through HeyInvest

In short: Our users send their own messages. You can stop one sender by replying, or stop everyone using HeyInvest by sending us a do-not-contact request.

Emails and LinkedIn messages sent through HeyInvest are sent by our users, from their own accounts and in their own names. The sender is responsible for the message and for having a lawful basis to contact you.

  • To stop messages from one sender, reply to them, for example by replying “unsubscribe.”
  • To stop outreach through HeyInvest’s tools from every user, submit a do-not-contact request using our privacy request form.
  • To report unwanted or abusive messages, email legal@heyinvest.ai.

We do not add tracking pixels or tracked links to outreach emails.

11How Long We Keep Information

In short: As long as needed for the purpose, then we delete or de-identify it, with longer periods only where the law or legal claims require.

BackupsOverwritten on our providers’ backup cycles, generally within 30 days

We may keep information longer where the law requires it, or where it is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our agreements.

12Security

In short: We use reasonable safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure.

We use measures designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest, application-level encryption of Gmail permission tokens, Workspace isolation enforced by database row-level security, restricted access to production systems, withholding contact details until they are unlocked, and activity logging. LinkedIn credentials are passed to our automation provider rather than stored by us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If we learn of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

13International Transfers

In short: We are based in the United States and our providers operate in several countries. We protect transfers with recognized safeguards.

HeyInvest is based in the United States. We and our service providers process information in the United States and in other countries, which may not have data protection laws equivalent to those where you live. When we transfer personal data from the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK Addendum to them, or on another mechanism or exception the law allows. Contact us for more information about these safeguards.

14Your Privacy Rights

In short: Depending on where you live, you can access, correct, delete or port your information, opt out of sale, object and appeal. We honor removal and opt-out requests from anyone.

14.1Your rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and access a copy of it;
  • correct inaccurate personal information;
  • delete your personal information;
  • receive your information in a portable format;
  • opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, of targeted advertising, and of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects (we do not engage in the last two);
  • restrict or object to our processing, including processing based on legitimate interests and for direct marketing;
  • withdraw consent where we rely on it, without affecting earlier processing;
  • appeal our decision about your request; and
  • complain to a data protection authority.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We honor requests to remove an investor profile, opt out of sale and stop outreach from anyone, wherever they live.

14.2How to make a request. Use our privacy request form or email privacy@heyinvest.ai. Users can also update much of their information in the app’s settings.

14.3Verification. To protect you, we verify requests to know, access, correct or delete by matching the information you give us with our records, and we may ask you to confirm the request from your email address or to provide more information. We do not require verification for opt-out or do-not-contact requests, but we may decline a request that we reasonably believe is fraudulent.

14.4Authorized agents. An authorized agent may make a request for you with your signed, written permission. We may still ask you to verify your identity or to confirm the agent’s permission directly with us.

14.5Timing. We respond within 45 days under US state privacy laws, extendable by a further 45 days with notice, and within one month under the GDPR and UK GDPR, extendable by two months where necessary. We process opt-out requests within 15 business days.

14.6Appeals. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or by emailing privacy@heyinvest.ai with “Appeal” in the subject line. We will respond within the time the law requires. If we deny your appeal, you may contact the attorney general of your state.

15Additional Information for California Residents

In short: The categories of personal information we collect, why, who receives it, and what may be considered a “sale” under California law.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. To opt out, use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information form.

16Additional Information for the EEA, UK and Switzerland

In short: Who the controller is, our legal bases, your rights and where to complain.

HeyInvest LLC is the controller of personal data processed as described in Section 2. You can contact us at privacy@heyinvest.ai. Our legal bases are listed in Section 4, the sources of investor information in Section 9.2, and our transfer safeguards in Section 13.

You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, including the absolute right to object to direct marketing, and the right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office. 17Additional Information for Canada
